Usage Instructions #
Operating the SkimmerGuard is simple and intuitive. Follow these steps to ensure proper usage and interpretation of status indicators:
1. Power On #
To activate the device, slide the power switch (marked with the letter S) located on the lower part of the unit to the right.
- The red LED will briefly light up for approximately one second, followed by all three LEDs (red, orange, and green, marked with L) flashing rapidly three times.
This sequence confirms that the device is operational and ready for use.
2. Skimmer Detection #
Insert the SkimmerGuard into the card reader of an ATM, POS, or similar device, then remove it promptly. The device will immediately provide visual feedback via LED indicators:
- 🟢 Green LED – No skimming device detected; the card reader is clean.
- 🟠Orange LED – Unclear reading; the analysis was inconclusive.
- 🔴 Red LED – High likelihood of a skimmer being present.
3. Power Saving Mode #
If the device is not used for approximately one minute, it will automatically enter deep sleep mode to preserve battery life.
When this occurs, all LEDs will flash twice slowly to indicate the transition.
To reactivate the device after sleep mode, you have two options:
- Option A: Switch the device off, wait around 10 seconds, then turn it back on.
- Option B: Press the reset button, marked with the letter R, to instantly wake the device.
